Thank you for all you are doing in our Broward County community. The outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to impact our state and we need your help ensuring we have enough blood supply to support critical medical procedures in Florida and across the country.
Since the coronavirus pandemic has spread here in the U.S., we have seen blood drive cancellations grow at an alarming rate. Through March 23rd, more than 6,000 Red Cross blood drives have been canceled across the country due to coronavirus concerns, resulting in about 200,000 fewer blood donations.
Thank you for ensuring that essential services such as blood collection continues during this crisis, as referenced in Governor Ron Desantis’ State of Florida Executive Order 20-52, Section 7, dated March 9, 2020. The American Red Cross and other Blood Banks have been named as a part of the Department of Homeland Security’s 16 Critical Infrastructure Sectors in the Memorandum of Identification of Essential Critical Infrastructure Workers During COVID-19 response, dated March 19, 2020.
The American Red Cross remains focused on performing its life-saving mission. We appreciate your continued support. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at email@example.com
